Willie J. Cobb, Jr. passed into the loving arms of Jesus on August 1, 2020 in his home on Longboat Key, Florida surrounded by his loving family. Willie gained his wings after a courageous three-year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Willie was the devoted husband of over 54 years to Judy Eastridge Cobb, the loving dad and father in-law of Lori and Todd Smith, Travis and Kara Cobb, and Jodi and Brad Duncan. He was the proud "Papa" of nine grandchildren, Logan and Lindsay Smith, Kennedy, Caraline, and Will Cobb, Max, Jack and Charlie Duncan, and Sam Tyas. Willie was the dear brother of Lillian Bowles, Colene (Willie) Ponder, James (Pat) Cobb, Doris McCormick, Dorothy (Doug) Thompson, and Robert (Jennifer) Cobb and dear brother in-law to Patty (Gary) Teague. He was pre-deceased by his parents Irene and Willie Cobb, Sr., in-laws, Clarence and Ethel Eastridge, and brothers-in-laws James Bowles and Kenneth McCormick. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Willie was born February 15th, 1947 in Gibbs, Ky. After growing up on the family farm and attending Cumberland College, he moved to Goshen, OH in 1966 and began teaching for the Goshen Local School System. He and Judy raised their family in Milford, OH. Willie's love of the outdoors and passion for talking to people led him to leave the education field and become a business owner.
Willie owned and operated Northeast Marathon in Loveland, OH for thirty years before retirement. He formed many special bonds with employees and customers who became lifelong friends. Whether it was his quiet, but steadfast ways, or his strong hand-shake and friendly smile, Willie had a special gift of connecting with people. The Loveland community trusted Willie with so much more than just fixing their cars. Still to this day, people refer to him as "Willie, down at Marathon." Upon retirement, the Mayor of Loveland declared a Willie Cobb Jr Day to honor his commitment to the Loveland community.
Even with Willie's crazy seven day a week work schedule, he still found ways to be a driving force in his children's lives by providing them with amazing opportunities to set them up for success. Some of his most cherished times were those he spent with his grandchildren. They all inherited his orneriness and playfulness, his passion for fishing, sports, playing cards, and spending time with those he loved and cared about.
