William "Bill" C. Kelly passed away at the age of 93 on Saturday, October 30, 2021, in West Chester, Ohio close to his daughter Susan (Hargrave). Bill was born in Rochester, New York where he lived for 85 years.
Bill and his wife Marie were blessed with, and are survived by, four children: Nancy (Craig), Kathleen (Yohman), Susan (Hargrave), and Brian Kelly. The "blessings" continued with 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Bill met the love of his life, Marie Veitel, one summer at the lake. They were married for 64 years. She was his rock and his "sunshine". His favorite song "You Are My Sunshine" was meant for her.
He took great pride in graduating from St. Bonaventure University and Syracuse Law School.
As an attorney, Army Reserves Captain / JAGC, Chili Town Councilman, Justice of the Peace, Monroe County Legislator, and Chili Town Supervisor, Bill was honest, sincere, and hardworking. Everything he did was for altruistic reasons.
As a volunteer fireman, Chili fire department president, and attorney for several local fire departments in Rochester, New York, Bill cherished the camaraderie among firemen. He proudly wore those jackets embroidered with his name and the name of the fire department he received them from. Even though he had moved from Rochester, New York to Loveland, Ohio in 2013, firemen and EMTs in Ohio would see him wearing one of those embroidered jackets and respond immediately with gestures of brotherhood.
The short time Bill lived in Loveland, Ohio, everyone who met him loved and remembered him. Every day, people were positively impacted by the simple enjoyment he had interacting with them. He never lost his playful sense of humor and firm handshake.
Bill never tired of looking up and marveling at the clouds in the sky. He always had a least 3 American flags in his possession and had the utmost respect for veterans and first responders.
Those who knew Bill know he hated being fussed over and would rather give than receive. In lieu of funeral services, and to honor Bill's character, we ask that you consider supporting your local fire department in some way and/or making a donation to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
As a tribute to Bill, adopt his motto which was: "Always leave the people you meet either smiling, laughing, or both!"
