William Robert Kain Jr., of Mt. Orab, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on February 11, 2026, at the age of 65, surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on September 22, 1960, to the late William Robert Kain Sr. and Vivian (née Simpson) Kain.
He was the loving father of Chris (Mary) Studer, Keighley Kain, and Kourtney (Justin) Campbell, and the proud grandfather of 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was a dear friend to Kelly Reeves and was blessed with numerous brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and many cherished friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Kasey Kain Jarvis; his best friend, Chuck Reeves; his sister, Betty (Ronnie) Hornbach; and his brother, John “Bear” Kain.
Bill served as a devoted firefighter with Wayne Township Fire and Rescue for 19 years. Following the tragedy of September 11, 2001, he loaded up his truck and headed to New York to assist with search and rescue and cleanup efforts. In recognition of his commitment and dedication, Wayne Township honored him as a lifetime honorary member of the department.
A man of strong faith, Bill was a member of Mt. Orab Methodist Church. He will be fondly remembered for his love of The Beatles, playing the drums and bass guitar, and especially his love of food. He was very proud of his Irish heritage.
The family kindly requests that memorial donations in memory of William Kain be made to Kourtney Campbell to assist with funeral expenses.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, February 17, from 10:00–11:00 a.m. at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 1668 State Route 28, Goshen. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
