William "Bill" E. Hager of Mason, OH, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at the age of 51. Loving and devoted father of Abby and Josie Hager. Dear son of Ann and Steve Hurst. Co-parent with Sheri Hager. Beloved brother of Greg (Christina) Hager. Cherished uncle of Henry, Grace, Eli, and Ike Hager. Special friend of Kim Mott.
Bill was born on October 29, 1970, in Athens, OH. He spent most of his childhood in Gallipolis, OH, where he developed lifelong friendships. Bill studied at the Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University. While in college, he started his career in journalism at WOWK-TV in Huntington, WV. A few years later, he moved to Cincinnati and began his more than 25-year career at WLWT-TV. Every day of his professional life was dedicated to excellence and serving the community. Highlights of his career include political debates, Election Day coverage, investigative reporting, and being honored with a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award and three Emmys.
Most importantly, Bill's personal life was dedicated to his two daughters. They always came first. His love for them, infinite.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, July 14, 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 129 N. Riverside Ave., Loveland. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, July 15, at Noon at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 8815 E. Kemper Road, Montgomery. Interment will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Montgomery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Bill's memory to the Stray Animal Adoption Program (SAAP) or the American Heart Association.
