Obituary

Beloved husband for 57 years of Gladys Spring (nee Rogers). William passed away at Jewish Hospital of Cincinnati on Friday April 12 at age 82. Devoted father of Robert (Sharon) and Marcia (Jonathan) Ingersoll. Loving grandfather to Shane (Johanna), Shannon, Chase, and Kealy. Dear brother of Theresa (Martin) Glannon. Dear brother-in-law of Alice Finneran, Mildred Lowry, and Ralph E. Rogers. Dearest uncle of Susan Finneran. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his love, devotion and determination. Born September 9, 1919 Bill grew up in Manchester, New Hampshire and attended Manchester High School where he was one of the most popular men in his class. He was captain of the football team and received letters in football, basketball and baseball. After High School he went to Lowell Technical Institute before joining General Electric in Lynn, Massachusetts on the apprentice tool and die program in 1940. He left GE to serve in WWII as an aerial gunman on a B-17 from 1944-1946. Returning to General Electric after the war he attended Fordham University and West Point for extensive in-company training in Metalurgical engineering while sharing his expertise within GE as instructor of advanced production control seminars. Bill transfered from GE Lynn to GE Cincinnati in 1953 as Supervisor of Production Control and Purchasing. Bill left GE in 1958 and joined Howmet Corp to start a new state of the art casting facility in LaPorte, Indiana Bill ran TRW'S Casting facilities in Alliance, Ohio. He then joined Hitchner Manufacturing Inc. in 1971 as Vice President of Operations and retired in 1983. Bill returned to Cincinnati for retirement.
