William (Bill) E Young, age 67, gained his Angel wings on April 9, 2017. Loving father of Maggie Young (Otis Bolender), Tiffany Burton (Brian Burton), Crystal Lovejoy (David Lovejoy), and Brittany Parks (Denroy Parks). Cherished Pappy/Bop to Peyton Abbott, Trace Burton, Zoey Latham, Kyler Burton, Trent Burton, Avery Burton, Azalea Burton, Oakley Burton, Emilynn Lovejoy, Grayson Lovejoy, Marlee Parks, Orlando Parks, and Malachi Parks. He also has one beloved Brother, Robert Young and many nieces and nephews. He graduated from Fayetteville High School and attended 2 years at Miami University. Bill was a life long resident of the village of Fayetteville and a pillar of the community. He spent many years on the Fayetteville Fire Department making life long friends that are family by heart. He started as a cadet when he was a youth, worked up to Fire Chief for 7 years, an active fire fighter and life squad members for many years before retiring to an Honorary Member. This life long brotherhood earned him the nickname "Bunker Bill". Bill also spent many years as the Fayetteville Police Department Lieutenant. This career helped him assist and inspire many others to improve their lives. He was also able to create lasting relationships that were more than fellow officers, they were family. He was also a school bus driver for Fayetteville Perry District. In this role he hauled many kids and their kids as he would say. He felt love and kindness from so many in this position. It gave him so much pride and happiness to serve his community and watch so many grow. Bill was also the chief of Police for the Village of St. Martin and water works supervisor for Fayetteville. He spent many years as President of the Peace Officers Association where he was able to give back to many children in Brown County. Bill was a very loving man but stern when needed. He was loved by all who truly knew him and will be missed by countless loved ones and community members. Services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday April 15, 2017 at the Fayetteville Fire Department, 100 N. Apple St. Fayetteville, OH 45118, where friends will be received from 10 AM until time of service. Interment Vera Cruz Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family ask all donations be made to the Fayetteville Police Department to be disbursed to assist a charity for children in need.
