William P. Ralston, of Milford, Ohio, passed away on December 12, 2025, after an extended illness.
Born in Dayton, Ohio, on September 7, 1945, Bill was the son of Robert and Elvira (Gamber) Ralston. He grew up in Dayton alongside his two sisters, Nancy Calvert (Ralston) and Sally Lane (Ralston). He graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, in 1968 and went on to spend 35 years as a music teacher and band director, the majority of that time in the West Clermont School District. He was a beloved educator who inspired many students to pursue music themselves.
In addition to teaching, Bill was an active trombonist. His primary performance outlet was his band, The Classix, which played throughout the Cincinnati area for wedding receptions and other events.
Bill’s passion for music extended far beyond the classroom and the stage. He was an avid listener—especially of jazz—and built an extensive record collection over the years. He loved sharing his albums with friends and introducing people to new artists and genres.
Bill is survived by his partner, Phyllis Wickstrom; his former wife, Marcia Ralston; his daughter, Stephanie White (Ralston); his son, Andrew Ralston, and Andrew’s wife, Lauren Ralston; Phyllis’ daughter, Kerry Wickstrom; his granddaughters, Ainsley and Isla White; Lauren’s children, Kaylie and Evan Phillips; and his sisters, Nancy Calvert (Ralston) and Sally Lane (Ralston). He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Elvira Ralston (Gamber).
A Celebration of Life and Open House will be held on Friday, July 17, from 2:00–7:00 PM at The Building, 116 N. Karl Brown Way, Loveland, OH 45140.
