Veronica "Babie"
Kowalik
February 23, 1927 – May 19, 2026
Veronica Kowalik (Babie), age 99, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of her two daughters. Born in Aleksandrovka, Ukraine, Veronica experienced extraordinary challenges at a young age. During World War II and the Holocaust, she was forcibly separated from her family under Nazi rule. Despite unimaginable hardship, she carried a spirit of resilience, strength, and determination throughout her life. In the years that followed, she lived in Germany and France before eventually immigrating to the United States, where she built a life centered on faith, family, and perseverance.
For many years, Veronica worked at Stangl Pottery, where she was known for her strong work ethic and dedication. A devoted member of St. Hedwig’s Church in Trenton, New Jersey, she was a member of the Rosary Society and found great comfort and purpose in her Catholic faith.
Following the passing of her beloved husband, Boleslaw Kowalik, she relocated from New Jersey to Ohio to be closer to family. For more than three decades, she treasured the opportunity to travel between her children’s homes, creating memories and strengthening the bonds that meant so much to her.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures: reading, cooking, sewing, completing crossword puzzles, and sharing stories from her remarkable life. Above all else, she cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. Her greatest happiness came from being surrounded by those she loved, and she never missed an opportunity to offer encouragement, wisdom, or a warm meal.
Veronica will be remembered for her unwavering faith, remarkable resilience, generous heart, and deep love for family. Having lived through nearly a century of history, she leaves behind a legacy of strength, perseverance, and devotion that will continue to inspire generations to come.
She is survived by her daughters, Christine Sliwinski (Stanley) and Barbara Jones (Norman); grandchildren, Stanley Sliwinski Jr. (Melissa), Stephen Sliwinski, Stacy Sliwinski (Mike Levine), Carrie Ann Kowalik, Daniel Jones, Milinda Ziegler, Kyle Jones (Melissa), Jeremy Jones (Amanda) and Janet Luttrell (Nile); and eighteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Boleslaw Kowalik; parents, Radion Kapuscinski and Ulana Kosenko; brother, Nikolai Kapuscinski; sister, Nina Szczerbina; son, John Kowalik and son-in-laws, Stanley Sliwinski and Norman Jones III.
Funeral services were held on June 6, 2026 at Our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown, Pennsylvania with close family present.
