Loving father of Tony Shurts (Nancy), Karla Rider (Bill), Janet Gray (Chuck), Diane Shurts-Fisher (Tom), Andrew J. Shurts and Joan Scherpenberg (Mike). Proud grandfather of Rebecca Estes, Aaron Shurts, Matthew and Michael Rider, Chris and Chad Gray, Mallory and Kyle Shurts and Michael, Andrew and Genna Scherpenberg. Great-grandfather of nine. Also survived by his loving companion Lucky and many family and friends. U.S. Navy WWII and Korean War Veteran. Passed away February 21, 2015 at the age of 89. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 28 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Columban Church, 894 Oakland Rd., Loveland, where friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. until time of Mass. Interment will take place on Monday, March 2 at 9:00 a.m. at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Columban Church Education Fund.
