Vernon Blankenship was born September 6, 1921 to Alson and Laura (nee McGuire) Blankenship and passed away February 8, 2017 at the age of 95.
He was a graduate of Pikeville College, Wilmington College and received his Master's Degree from Miami University. He served 4 years in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII and worked as an educator and coach and retired as an Assistant Superintendent of Blanchester Schools.
He is survived by his son Phil (Becky) Blankenship; granddaughter, Kris (Brad) Zimmerman; great grandchildren Kelsey, Jack, Sophie and Max; Dear friend, Sarah Lowman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife LaNita (nee Clark) Blankenship; an infant son, John Kevin Blankenship, a brother Walter "Smokey" Blankenship and a sister, Lois Ray.
Services will be held at 6 PM on Thursday February 16, 2017 at the Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home, 120 W. Main St. Blanchester, OH 45107 where friends will be received from 4 PM until time of service.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 10 AM on Friday February 17, 2017 at the Blanchester I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
