Obituary

Thomas Waldron Kittle (75) passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his wife of 31 years Linda Kittle, his children Sean (Bonnie) Kittle, Minda Van Leeuwen, Erin (Ryan) Dipzinski, Stephanie (Casey) Woodruff, and Andy (Laura) Hamm, his grandchildren Austin, Logan, Reese, Reagan, Taylor, Jordan, Ava, Nolan, Bryson, Tommy, Rhiannon, Bryant, Shawan, Gage, and numerous great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Gerry (Barb) Kittle and a sister Janet Snow, and brothers-in-law Jim (Becky) Groves, Bob (Mary) Groves, John Groves, and Dick Groves. He is preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Erma Kittle, and a sister Karen Kittle.

Tom was born on September 21, 1948, in Johnson City, New York. After graduating from Jamestown High School in 1966, he went on to Davis and Elkins College where he played baseball and earned his degree. After graduating, he moved to Goshen, Ohio and got his first teaching job at Goshen High School where he would spend his entire 30-year teaching career. In addition to teaching at Goshen High School, he also coached football, baseball, wrestling, and golf. When he wasn't coaching, he devoted many years to being a referee. Teaching is also where he met his wife, Linda. Tom and Linda were married April 2,1993. Tom retired from Goshen Local Schools in 2000 but didn't stay retired for long. He returned to work at the ESC where he spent 8 years before he and Linda retired together.

Tom lived life to the fullest. He loved good food and good company. He jumped at any opportunity to have a good time. Retirement was no different. Tom and Linda took numerous cruises and vacations with family and friends ("The Six Pack"), spent countless hours at the golf course not only with Linda but his best friends Ray Saylor, Bob Woodruff and Scott Mohler. Tom loved the beach and trips to the casino. He devoted his time to taking care of others, including selflessly caring for Linda's mom. Tom spent summers working at golf courses. But nothing was more important than his grandkids. There wasn't an event that he missed. He was their biggest cheerleader and could always be found cheering them on from the stands.

Tom was a man of great integrity. He had a zest for life and an infectious laugh. He was always ready with an encouraging word or a "Hey, how ya doin'?" His love, kindness, wisdom, and generosity impacted so many people and he was loved by many.
