She and Hubert were very active in gardening and she canned everything. After her retirement from the beauty shop, she worked at Haines' Department Store in Blanchester, then the Antique Mall later in the same building. In her spare time she worked as a volunteer and also as a beautician for patients at Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, Ohio. Adding to this, she was on-call as a beautician for Hannah Funeral Home in Blanchester, and was always very active in many community projects and events. Thelma was a devoted life-long member of The Second Creek United Methodist Church and The Second Creek Ladies Aid. She was also a member of Cary Chapter #221 of the Ohio Easter Star for almost 70 years. She is survived by a daughter, Sue Leaverton of Fresno, California; a daughter, Karren (Walter) Nichols of Southlake, Texas; and a son, Mark (Debbie) Leaverton of Meriden, Connecticut; three grandchildren, Ryan Leaverton, Lindsey Leaverton, and Rachel Leaverton also of Meriden, Connecticut; three nieces, Patty Minge of Lebanon, Ohio, Connie (John) Neely of North Carolina, and Joan (Arthur) Mills of Willoughby, Ohio; a nephew, Gary Goodwin of Wilmington, Ohio; and Thelma's beloved adopted family of Carmen Santiago, Carolina and Dorian Robles and their two children of Caracus, Venezuela. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Carlton Goodwin of Lebanon, Ohio and Donald Goodwin of Wilmington, Ohio.
