Sue Jeanette
Estep
September 4, 1942 – June 7, 2026
Sue Jeanette Estep (Vanhook) passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, in Waynesville, Ohio. Born on September 4, 1942, in Somerset, Kentucky, Sue lived a life defined by devotion, creativity, and an unwavering love for her family. As a homemaker, she poured her heart into creating a warm, welcoming home where everyone felt cared for.
Sue was the beloved daughter of the late William and Ada (Mounce) Vanhook. Throughout her life, Sue was graced with the gift of enduring love and companionship in her marriages to her late husbands—Marvin Alexander, Rick Estep, and Marvin Haynes. Each union added a beautiful chapter to her story, filled with joy, growth, and treasured memories that shaped the woman she became.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Rodney (Donna) Alexander and Sabrina (Troy) Doan, and is reunited in heaven with her daughter, Teresa Shutts. Sue’s legacy continues through her grandchildren, Brandy Alexander (Travis), Rodney Jr. (Cheryl) Alexander, Alexis Doan, Tiffany (Coy) Burroughs, Damien (Cari) Alexander, Dustin (Chrissy) Hutchinson, and Isaiah Shutts, along with her step‑grandchildren, Paige and Trissa Doan (Troy Doan), and her many great‑grandchildren who brought her endless pride and joy.
Before her illness, Sue found great happiness tending to her yard. She filled it with vibrant plants, thoughtful décor, and handmade creations, each piece placed with her meticulous eye for detail. Her yard was her sanctuary, a reflection of her creativity and the care she put into everything she touched.
Sue also had a lifelong love for Elvis Presley. She could sit for hours listening to his music, finding comfort and joy in every song. Her family will forever remember the meals she lovingly prepared, especially her fried chicken and mashed potatoes, a favorite among the grandchildren. And for her daughter, nothing compared to Sue’s biscuits and gravy, made with the kind of love only a mother can give.
Sue will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her kindness, her warmth, and the love she poured into her family will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Somerset, Kentucky.
