Steven Joseph Stanforth, 66, of Turtle Creek Township, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026, just days before his 67th birthday. Born June 17, 1959, in Wilmington, Ohio, Steven lived a life defined by selflessness, devotion to family, and a generous spirit that touched everyone around him.
Steven was a steadfast presence in his community, most notably through his years coaching youth sports, where he invested his time and heart into the lives of countless young people. His passion for the outdoors, hunting and fishing in particular, brought him great joy and gave him a place to share with those he loved. In a final act of characteristic generosity, Steven chose to be an organ donor, giving the gift of life to others even in death.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Julie Lance Stanforth (married October 20, 1990); daughters Jennifer (Dennis) Ewing, Stevie (fiancé Andrew Keubler), and Cassidy (fiancé Frank Minner); grandchildren Hannah (Seth), Ciara (Tyler), Ollie Jean, Nova Love, Ellie, and Izaac; six great-grandchildren; his mother, Norma Stanforth; sister Beth; special nieces Stacey Lance-Harris and Laura Lance-Mullins; and brothers-in-law Bob (Linda), Jay (Sherrie), Brian, Roger, Scott, and Andy (Amanda) Lance. Numerous Nieces and Nephews. Bonus children, Courtney Williams, sons Liam, Bryson, and Asher; also, Brittany Minner and daughters Alexis & Iris.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Stanforth; brothers Mark and Tim; and Mother and Father-in-law Bob and Pat Lance.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Turtle Creek Fire and Rescue, the UC West Chester ICU team, and Jill Panko-Smith for their compassionate care.
Steven will be remembered not for what he had, but for what he gave.
Family and friends will be received Monday, June 22, from 5 PM to 7 PM at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 120 W. Main Street, Blanchester, OH 45107, where a service for Steven will begin at 7 PM. Donations in Steven's memory may be directed to the Continental Manor Activity Fund, 820 East Center Street, Blanchester, Ohio 45107.
