Steven D. Skidmore, 73, of Blanchester, Ohio, passed away September 3rd, 2021 surrounded by his family at Ohio State University Wexner Center following a brief illness.
He was born on December 15, 1947 in Lima, Ohio, to the late Harley Floyd Skidmore Jr. and Dorothy Irene (Fleece) Skidmore.
He was a 1966 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and was in the armed services during the Vietnam War. On March 3rd, 1973, Steve married Joan Lucile (Leib) Skidmore at Gretna Church in Bellefontaine, Ohio and they had 48 years together. After 25 years, he retired from Sprint where he was a lineman. Steve was also a truck driving instructor at Southern State Truck Driving Academy in Wilmington, Ohio.
In addition to his wife, Joan, Steve is survived by four daughters; Jennifer Lyn Skidmore of Silver Spring, Maryland, Jacquie Luann Skidmore of Milford, Ohio, Jill Elizabeth "Betsy" Skidmore of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Brittany Irene Skidmore of Port William, Ohio and two grandchildren, Shelby Skidmore and Ethan Blair. He is also survived by a brother, Dwight (Sondra) Skidmore, DVM, and a sister, Cheryl (Robert) Losey and three nephews.
Besides his parents, Steve was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman and Robert Skidmore.
Steve will be remembered for his infectious laugh, loyalty, and love for his family and numerous friends. He was a long time member of the Blanchester Senior Citizen Center and especially loved bowling, volleyball, and traveling.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 10th, 2021 at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 120 W. Main St., Blanchester, Ohio from 11 AM to 12 PM with a service to follow.
A graveside service will be held September 11, 2021 at 11 AM, at the Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty, Ohio.
