Steven Edward Oberlag, cherished husband of (Deborah) Lee Oberlag, died at home on Friday September 22, 2006, after a long battle againist diabetes, heart and kidney disease. He was 57 years old. Steve grew up in the farming community of Wright City, Missouri, and was preceded in death by beloved parents Harold and Effie Oberlag, who moved to Cincinnati to be near him in 1994. Besides his devoted wife of 34 years, Steve is survived by his dear aunt Mildred (Oberlag) Lodes of St. Louis; parents-in-law Gene and Norma Morrison of Loveland; sisters-in-law Dianne Smith (Joe) of Baltimore, Donna Potts (David) of St. Charles, Missouri, Denise Morrison of Kansas City and brother-in-law Mark Morrison(Kay)of DeSoto, Missouri; several dear cousins; many nieces and nephews; Loveland neighbors and friends across the country. Steve attended the University of Missouri (Columbia) and was a chemical engineer at Proctor & Gamble. He also worked for CDA, one of the early home-incarceration bracelet suppliers in Hamilton County. A spirited man who had a passion for golf, classical music and history, Steve received the gift of life in 1995 when he received a kidney-pancreas transplant. Despite chronic health problems, several heart attacks and a recent stroke, Steve continued to find hope, joy and laughter almost every day. Lee and Steve want to thank everyone in the Cincinnati medical community and the many dear people who have supported them throughout his long illness.
