IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stephen
Koper
April 13, 1941 – October 31, 2025
Retired Brigadier General Stephen Koper, 84 of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully October 31, leaving behind a legacy of service, leadership, and love for family.
Son of Wesley and Zae Koper. Devoted father of Marcy (Matt) Murphy and Andy (Lisa) Koper. Cherished grandfather of Collin Murphy, Paige Murphy, Ava Koper, and Dylan Koper. Caring brother of Becky Patton.
Born and raised in Cincinnati, Steve was a proud alumnus of Walnut Hills High School and Miami University, where he laid the foundation for a distinguished career and lifelong commitment to community and country.
Steve spent decades as a respected executive and business owner in the printing industry, earning admiration for his professionalism and work ethic. His dedication extended beyond business into military service. Steve served honorably in the Ohio National Guard for 32 years, retiring with the rank of Brigadier General.
His devotion to the Guard continued as President of the National Guard Association, where he championed the safety and benefits of guardsmen and women nationwide. In this role, Steve met with four U.S. Presidents, tirelessly advocating for those who serve.
Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, Steve was a man of many passions. A voracious reader, history buff, and gifted storyteller, he loved sharing knowledge and anecdotes with those around him. A lifelong sports fan, Steve could often be found cheering on his favorite teams—but his greatest joy came from supporting his children and grandchildren in their athletic pursuits. Whether on the sidelines or in the stands, Steve was their biggest fan. He also delighted in introducing his family and anyone within earshot to all things Miami University, proudly passing down his love for his alma mater.
Steve's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and in the countless lives he touched through his service, leadership, and love.
Family and friends will be received Sunday, November 9, from 4 PM to 6 PM, as well as Monday, November 10, from 10 AM to 11 AM at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 129 N Riverside Avenue, Loveland, OH 45140, where a service for Stephen will begin at 11 AM Monday, November 10.
