Stephen Homer Wiltse, age 77, died Friday, November 6, 2015, in Cincinnati, OH. Loving father, husband, brother and friend. Born May 21, 1938 in Butte, MT to the late Homer George Wiltse and Harriet Gretchen Schrag Wiltse Hawk. Steve graduated from Falls City High School, where he played football. He was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and a smoke jumper for the United States Forest Service when he was a college student. He received a bachelor's degree from the College of Business Administration at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. This prepared him for a long career "fighting fires" in his work as chief accounting officer for a variety of private firms before his retirement. Steve was an avid golfer. He was a rabid fan of the Huskers and his adopted Cincinnati Reds and Bengals. He was a man of few words and many grunts. Beneath his gruff exterior was a very loyal and gentle soul.
His wife, Mary Lou Flaig Wiltse, predeceased him in 2013.
Survivors are his daughter, Jane E. Wiltse and two sons, Andy (and wife Rose) and Tom and their mother, Julie Bowers Wiltse; two younger brothers, David (Annie) and John (Zdenka).
Family and friends will be received from 3-4 PM on Friday, November 13 at Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home, 129 N Riverside Ave, Loveland, OH 45140, where services will be held at 4 PM.
Donations in memory of Stephen may be directed to Hospice of Cincinnati, PO Box 633597, Cincinnati OH 45263-3597.
