Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 26, 1965, Clay grew up in South Lebanon Ohio, a 1983 graduate of Kings High School. He was married on October 22, 1983 to his high school sweetheart. He was a landscape supervisor at Thornton Landscape for 36 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing and gardening. He was also a gun collector and music fan. He was never able to pick a favorite song and his favorite outfit was shorts and no shirt or his beloved overalls.
Clay enjoyed football and could be found on any Sunday supporting his Cincinnati Bengals, win or lose. He and his wife have resided in Blanchester Ohio for 25 years, where he coached little league Wildcat football. He is known to a lot of the boys of the class of 2016 and '17 as "Coach". He did not know a stranger in the world, and was often found "shooting the breeze" in Kroger with people he knew in town. He loved to talk politics and apocalypse theories. He collected weapons of all sorts, always adding to his stash of bug out equipment.
Clay was a loyal and devoted husband and father and often told anyone who would listen about his family. He was funny, quick witted and sarcastic, traits that he often questioned in his children. He was responsible, supportive, and always gave more than he got. He was the first to offer help and support where it was needed most and never turned his back on a loved one. He is sorely missed by all who knew him.
Cremation services are being handled by Tufts-Schildmeyer Funeral Home in Blanchester with a celebration of life following on June 6, 2020 at 2 p.m. at 60 West Broadway South Lebanon, OH 45065. All who wish to attend are encouraged to participate to share a memory and a laugh with the family.
