IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shirley A.
Jeffers
March 30, 1932 – June 25, 2023
Shirley A. (nee Haigh) Jeffers. Beloved wife of the late Lawrence Jeffers. Loving mother of Geoff (Lavinia) Hultgren and the late Robert (Linda) Hultgren. Stepmother of Laurie (Jeff) Young. Proud grandmother of Joshua (Ashley) Hultgren, Frances Hultgren, Samuel Hultgren, and Andrew Young. Passed away June 25, 2023, at the age of 91.
Shirley dedicated her life and energies to the communities in which she lived. She taught at Nelsonville York Highschool before changing careers and becoming an Athens County Sheriff's Deputy. During this time, she raised a family and was active in local politics. After she retired from The Athens County Sheriff's Office, she taught in the Police Academy at Hocking College for many years. She was active in her later years in the Hockingport United Methodist Church until she moved to Lebanon, Ohio. Once again, she became active in her new community helping at the Shaker Seller and in many groups at Otterbein Community in Lebanon. She was a painter and avid writer and won awards for both. Shirley was also active in local schools assisting in their art programs and sharing her love of art with the children. Shirley will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, June 30 from 5-7 PM in the Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 129 N. Riverside Ave., Loveland. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, July 1 at 1 PM at Stewart Cemetery in Hockingport.
