Scott Emery Burk, M.D., Ph.D., age 45 of Cincinnati, OH passed away on March 21, 2013 after a long illness. A loving husband to Andrea Da Mata Burk, devoted father to Alec Scott, Ana Gisellie and Scott Alexander, loving brother to Perry Matthew (Robyn) and the late Todd, dear son to Bill & Carol Burk.
Scott was born on April 12, 1967 in Akron, OH. He attended Walsh Jesuit H.S., graduated Summa Cum Laude from Akron University and was class valedictorian of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine completing his M.D. Scott received his Ph.D. in molecular genetics, completed his residency in ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School and fellowship in cataract & refractive surgery at the Cincinnati Eye Institute where he subsequently entered into medical practice. A consummate physician and scientist, he had profound impacts on the fields of neuroscience, immunology & ophthalmology. Dr. Burk was loved by patients who he treated with exemplary compassion, dignity & respect. Scott's extraordinary intellect, inherent kindness, selfless ability to love and profound life force were an inspiration to all. The family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support.
Family and friends will be received from 5-7 PM on Monday, April 8 at Christ's Church at Mason, 5165 Western Row Road, Mason, Ohio 45040, where services will be held at 7 PM with a reception to follow.
