IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sandra
Mckee
August 22, 1943 – April 26, 2023
Sandra "Sandy" McKee, a beloved member of the greater Cincinnati community, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 26, 2023.
Born in 1943, Sandy lived most of her life in Cincinnati.
She was known for her skill as a needlepoint artist, and God help you if you called it cross-stitch. Her ability in the fiber arts took her to the Governor's Mansion where she stitched chairs for Governor Taft's dining room, to Kent State University where she presented seminars for the School of Fashion & Design, across the country where she taught at classes and conventions, as well as to our own Mariemont where she owned The Top Drawer for many years, teaching and stitching with friends. Her creativity and talent were a source of joy both for her and for those who were the happy recipients of her labors!
She was also an active member of P.E.O. and Job's Daughters and an attender at Christ's Church in Mason.
The first generation to be born in the United States, Sandy was proud of her deep Scottish heritage and made the pilgrimage back to Dundee more than once. In fact, she loved to travel and made amazing memories as she explored the world with her mom, each of her grandchildren, and other friends.
Her commitment to her family was central to her life. She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Preceded in death by her parents Bill and Bunt Young, she is survived by her sons Bill McKee (Shannon), Rick McKee (Shannon), grandchildren Mitchell McKee (Alyssa), Liam McKee, Caleb McKee (Rachel), Madison McKee, and great-granddaughter, Harper Rose McKee (who was arguably the favorite of them all).
Sandy loved watching football and sharing food and wine with her many, many friends, and she will be deeply missed. Her spirit of warmth and generosity will live on in the hearts of those she touched during her life.
A memorial service will be held at Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home (129 N Riverside Ave, Loveland, OH 45140) on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 11:00 AM with a calling hour beforehand at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, tax-deductible donations can be made to "P.E.O. Foundation" with "Ohio Scholarships Fund - 2" on the memo line. Please mail donations to P.E.O. Executive Office, Treasurer's Dept., 3700 Grand Ave., Des Moines, IA 50312.
