Ruth Sherbon passed away at the age of 91 in Ohio at the Christian Village of Mason. She grew up on a South Dakota family farm, the youngest of seven children. Ruth graduated from the University of Minnesota with two Bachelor of Science degrees in nursing and in public health. It was here that she met her beloved husband, John Sherbon. They had two children.

The young couple moved to the Ithaca, NY, area where John taught at Cornell University and Ruth got her Masters of Education from there. Ruth spent the rest of her career teaching elementary school grades in the Ithaca school system.

Ruth and John loved being part of their church communities at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Ithaca, NY, and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Loveland, OH. They liked to travel, canoe, ride bikes, square dance, go to hockey games, be with family and friends and enjoy their family pets. Ruth loved nature and teaching her students about the wonders of the world. She also enjoyed knitting, books, playing cards with friends, and riding her A-linker.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, John Sherbon, her son, William Sherbon, her parents, William and Anna, and by her six siblings and their spouses. She is survived by her daughter Barb Wood (Mike), her granddaughters Chelsea (Ben) and Leah, and many nephews and nieces.

Friends and family will be received at 1 PM on Friday, May 2, 2025 at the Christian Village of Mason, Stone Worship Center, 411 Western Row Road, Mason, OH, 45040. A Celebration of Life will begin at 1:30 PM. A short reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donation in Ruth's memory may be given to The Nature Conservanc y or the Loveland LIFE Food Pantry .
