Ruth A. (nee Curliss) "Boots" Allen was born January 6, 1928, to Oscar Sr. and Ferrol (nee McHenry) Curliss and passed away Wednesday August 27, 2014 at the age of 86. She was a former member of the Blanchester Church of Christ where she served as Secretary/Treasurer for many years. She transferred her membership to the Hillsboro Church of Christ upon moving to Hillsboro. She worked for many years as a secretary for Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, OH, Clinton County Air Base, Wilmington, OH, finally retiring from Richenbacker Air Force Base in Columbus, OH. One of her favorite hobbies was baking and cooking which was enjoyed by family, friends and co-workers, especially around the holidays. She enjoyed raising fruits and vegetables and was always proud to show pictures of her harvest lining her patio and tables. In later years she loved playing Scrabble with special friend Marilyn Fenner, and watching Cincinnati Reds games. She is survived by sisters Virginia Steele, Blanche Curliss, Marilyn Held, Evelyn (Jim) Waits, Maureen Curliss, Jane (Bob) Leihemer, and brothers Michael Curliss, and Larry Curliss. She also had numerous nieces, nephews and friends including the staff at the Laurels of Blanchester. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry E. Allen whom she married June 6, 1947, two infant children, Lanny and Kathy, and brothers Oscar Curliss Jr., Robert Gene Curliss, and Ralph Curliss as well as sister Betty Greely. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday August 30, 2014 at the Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home, 120 W. Main St. Blanchester, OH 45107, where friends will be received from 10 AM until time of service. J.L. Runk will be officiating. Interment Blanchester I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Blanchester, OH.
