Rosemont "Posie" (nee Sewell) Spurgeon Meeker was born June 15, 1928 in Midland, OH, Jefferson Twp., to Staman H. and Ruby M. (nee Johnson) Sewell and passed away May 26, 2017 at Crestwood Ridge Nursing Home in Hillsboro, OH at the age of 88. She graduated from Jefferson School (Westboro) in 1946 and Wilmington College in 1958. Rosemont worked as a Teacher in Clinton Co. for 50 years. All students and their education were the cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her children, Michael Dana Spurgeon of Wilmington and Charline (Michael) Boyle of Martinsville; grandson, Chase Boyle; sister, Marguerite Hughes; sister-in-law, Virginia Carol Sewell; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Charles M. Spurgeon; second husband, Harry A. Meeker; brothers Oliver J. Sewell and William F. Sewell; a sister Beulah M. Villars Heck. Memorial services will be held at 2 PM on Thursday June 15, 2017 at Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home, 120 W. Main St. Blanchester, OH 45107, where friends will be received from 1 PM until time of service. Inurnment at the Westboro IOOF Cemetery, Jefferson Twp., OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Ohio-Clinton Co. Retired Teachers Association, (CCRT) in care of Nancy Williams, 1079 Doster Rd.
