Rondall Bert Porter was born February 09, 1934. He was the third of sixteen children of Robert Ephraim Porter and Ethel Mae Holbrook. In Rondall's early years, the family lived on a farm in the Hills of West Virginia. The family lived in very modest means, growing, raising, hunting and fishing for most of their food. Even though the family was poor, Rondall grew up in a spiritually rich home. He and his brothers and sisters learned the importance of God, hard work, sacrifice and love of family. It was from these beginnings that Rondall developed a heart for kindness, compassion, dedication and a great sense of humor. Rondall loved people. He enjoyed talking with family, friends, and strangers clinging to each word to learn more about their lives. He had the gift of making people feel better. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, music, old westerns and eating. He loved the Lord and his family. He was an avid reader of the Bible, newspapers and magazines and enjoyed watching educational programs and documentaries.
In high school, Rondall played football and basketball, where he earned West Virginia All State honors in football. He served in the United States Army Signal Corps for six years. His first job was with Container Corporation of America in Fort Wayne Indiana. He went to night school at Purdue University and earned a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering. He spent most of his employment years working in the printing and folding carton industry, working for various companies in management positions.
While in Fort Wayne, Rondall met and married Lareith Darlene Hapner. They were married for 59 years and had one son, Daniel Lee Porter. Following Lareith's death, Rondall married Deloris Lanter on September 5, 2015 at the Porter Family Reunion at Holly Gray Park in West Virginia.
Rondall is preceded in death by his parents Robert Ephraim Porter and Ethel Mae Holbrook Porter; his wife Lareith Darlene Porter; brothers Gene Porter, Elvie Porter, James Porter and Ray Porter; sisters Vernice Rose, Joyce Dennison and Donna Porter.
Rondall is survived by his wife Deloris Porter; son Daniel Porter (Mary); stepdaughter Tammi Shiveley (Dennis); stepson Scott Lanter; siblings Clyde Porter (Joretta), Dathyne Dennison, Pearl Sands, Aric Porter (Wendy), Rick Porter (Kathy), Rodney Porter (Pam), Terry Porter (Missy) and Keith Porter (Tammy); grandchildren Jason Porter (Macayla) and Rachel Porter (Matthew Gumm); great grandchildren Sarina and Elijah Johnston, Ella and Jaxon Porter, Jeremiah and Isaiah Gumm; multitudes of nieces and nephews.
Rondall entered heaven on February 3, 2026. He is now in the arms of Jesus and his beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of those who knew him.
Rondall's family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Veteran's Home-Based Primary Care Team, the staff of Villa Georgetown, Country Touch Home Care and Queen City Hospice.
