IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald Eugene
Slusser
October 19, 1937 – January 20, 2023
Ronald Eugene Slusser, 85, died January 20, 2023, after a brief hospitalization. He was born in Cincinnati, on October 19, 1937. Ron was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Vivian Slusser, and his sister, Carolyn Samples.
He is survived by his wife Joan (Clark) Slusser, son Don Hudson, daughters Jacki (Dave) French, Yvonne Slusser, Karan (Tom) Hackman and Kim (Dan) Dyson; grandchildren Brittany (Sean), Carli, Luke, Drew, Elizabeth, Hailey, and Sam; nieces and nephews Jason, Jennifer, Brenda, Casey, Cooper, Mark, Laura, and Becky. Beloved brother-in-law of Shelia (Lou) Castellucci, Diann Werts (deceased), and Jerry (Joyce) Clark.
Ron graduated from Deer Park High School in 1956 and served in the Army National Guard as a Reservist. He worked at Shillito's Department Store where he met Joan, married in June of 1962, and celebrated 60 years of marriage this past June. He was a successful small business owner of Southern Ohio Builders for over 35 years until his retirement.
He loved to hunt, fish, travel, and was a passionate fan of the Cincinnati Bengals, the Reds, UC Bearcats, and the Cleveland Indians. He enjoyed weekly breakfasts, lunch, dinners, and monthly poker games with lifelong friends. Ron and Joan had many years of adventures with a close group of friends who formed The Caravan Club in 1966 and are still going strong today. While exploring the world Ron and Joan went white water rafting in Costa Rica, rode camels in Egypt, cruised the Caribbean and Europe, and visited six of the seven continents.
As snowbirds in Florida, he enjoyed playing in a bocce league, daily games of Pinochle, visits to the dog track, and MEATO.
While Ron had many hobbies, his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. Some of his best days were those spent with his five children and seven grandchildren. Ron always said that the best vacations were those spent with his family whether they were playing poker or vacationing on the beach.
His family and friends will remember his surprise selfies on their cameras, his trademark toothpick, his sense of humor and love for ice cream.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Ron's Life at The Grizzly Golf and Social Lodge at 6042 Fairway Dr, Mason, OH 45040 on Friday, February 3, 2023, from 3 – 7 PM. Guests are invited to share anecdotes and stories about Ron beginning at 5:00 PM. In honor of Ron's love of sports, we ask that you wear your favorite sports attire.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to The Barrett Cancer Center at The University of Cincinnati. https://www.uchealth.com/foundation/donation
