Rollin "Ron" George Giffin III of Montgomery. Beloved husband for over 54 years to Shirley (nee Rakich) Giffin. Loving father of Douglas (Kristin) Giffin and Denee (Patrick) Ferguson. Proud grandfather of Rachel Giffin, James Giffin, Nicholas Ferguson, and Colleen Ferguson. Dear brother of Jeanne (Richard) Wright. Ron passed away January 17 at age 78 surrounded by his family. Raised in St. Regis Falls, NY, he graduated from Clarkson University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1957 and enjoyed a 55+year career with General Electric as an Aircraft Engine Design Engineer. He was an active volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, Odyssey of the Mind, Talking Books, and a local chess club. He served on the City of Montgomery Board of Zoning Appeals and volunteered for the City of Montgomery Service Department. In later years, he particularly enjoyed international travel with his wife, Shirley. He is remembered for his enthusiasm, friendliness, and sense of humor. A prolific inventor, part of his legacy is a lengthy list of patents. He liked to share his love of discovery, and embraced opportunities to teach - both planned and impromptu. Services will be held at Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home, 129 N Riverside Ave, Loveland, OH 45140, on Friday January 24, 2014 at 3 PM., where friends will be received from 2 PM. until time of the service.
