Obituary

Robert J. "Bob" Wick, of Madeira, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2021 surrounded by loved ones. Devoted and loving husband of Jane Wick (nee Boaden) for 38 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived and was treasured by his children Lisa (Mark) Schenning, Stephen (Kathy) Majchszak, David (Suzanne) Wick, Marty (Teresa) Majchszak, Steve (Jennifer) Wick, and Sarah (John) Williams. He was an adored and proud grandfather of fourteen: Christopher, Margot, Adam, Meagan, Will, Andrew, Emily, Ryan, Joe, Julia, Nicole, Jack, George, and Drew. He was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Mary Amelia (Tiberghien) Wick; his first wife Jacqueline (Masur) Wick; and two sisters Leonie Secunda and Kathleen Weir. Bob was born in Detroit, Michigan, and moved with his parents to Madeira, Ohio, in 1931. He had a wonderful childhood in Madeira, residing on Miami Avenue in the heart of the town. He chose to live in Madeira all of his life, never wavering in his love for the town. He interrupted his high school studies to join the United States Army during WW II in 1944 and honorably served as a member of the 344th T.C. Harbor Craft Company stationed at Fort Eustis, Virginia. He was very proud to serve his country. He later graduated from The Ohio State University in 1951 and spent a number of years working as a Human Resources Manager for GE. In the late 1950's he started his own successful human resources firm and worked for himself for nearly 60 years, only officially "retiring" at age 90. He and Jane were able to travel extensively, wintered on Longboat Key, and spent time at their home on Kelley's Island in Lake Erie. He enjoyed good health for most of his 94 years, going out to dinner and having a beer or two within a few days of his passing. He treasured his many friendships, raising his family first in Kenwood Hills and then later on Kenwood Road. Bob was a great father and spouse, always upbeat and positive, always willing to lend a hand, and will be remembered fondly by those who were fortunate to call him husband, dad, or friend. Per his wishes, interment will be private for family. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Please consider making a memorial donation in his memory to the Madeira Historical Society, Attn: Donna Lienhart, Treasurer, 7229 Longfield Drive, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45243.
