Robert Duane “Bob” Vance, of Blanchester, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the age of 78.
Bob was born on March 26, 1947, to Marjean (Bilderback) Shrack and Raymond Vance. He grew up in Martinsville, Ohio, where he developed the values that stayed with him throughout his life—hard work, kindness, and a genuine willingness to help others. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bob was married to the love of his life, Carolyn (Riddle) Vance, for 57 years. Together they built a life centered on family, commitment, and care for others. He was a proud and devoted father to Kimberly (Bill) Crawford, Todd (Julie) Vance, and Justin Vance.
Nothing brought Bob more joy than his grandchildren: Billy (Cheyenne) Hopper, Caleb (Triston) Crawford, Josh Crawford, Cayleigh (Evan) Kirian, and Ryleigh Vance. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Braelynn Hopper, Brynlee Hopper, and Lydia Crawford, all of whom he absolutely adored. Being “Papaw” was one of his greatest honors.
Bob is also survived by his brothers, Roger (Sheri) Vance and Charles (Linda) Vance, and his sisters, Carolyn (Bryant) Riddle and Cathy (Richard) Coleman.
Bob spent many years working in district maintenance for Blanchester Schools, where he was known as someone who could fix just about anything and was always willing to lend a hand. Helping others wasn’t something he did—it was simply who he was.
In his free time, Bob loved mushroom hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. More than anything, he loved his family and cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren. He showed his love quietly and consistently—by showing up, helping out, and always being there when someone needed him.
Friends will be received on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 120 W. Main St, St Rt 28, Blanchester, Ohio.
A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the funeral home.
Bob will be deeply missed by all who knew him, loved him, and were lucky enough to be helped by him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
