Robert Leslie Swaine, Sr. was born in 1923 in East Boston, MA. He lived also in Connecticut and North Carolina, before retiring to Ohio to be with his sons.
He left college to enlist in the U S Army and was a decorated combat infantryman during World War II. After the war he completed his education at Northeastern University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was a distinguished scientist and pioneer in the fields of food, flavor, and cosmetic chemistry and later an executive leading research and development. In retirement he delighted in teaching flavor chemistry to a new generation of scientists, talking with his many neighbors, and playing with his dogs. But, most important to him was spending time with his family.
He was a devoted husband of 50 years to his Barbara. His family includes; sons Robert (Susan), David (Debbie), Donald (Molly), grandchildren Sarah Meacham (Doug), Kellyann Everly (Matthew), Samantha Bonifacio (Gabe), Matthew and Catherine Swaine and great grandchildren Douglas, Natalie, Peter, Gustav, Piper, Evelynne Gildea.
Friends will be received Saturday, February 13 from 10AM - 12PM in the Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 129 N. Riverside Ave., Loveland, where funeral services will follow at 12 PM. Interment Kerr Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Special Olympics.
