Robert Stephen “Robbie” Nickley, 60, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on September 4, 2026. He was born March 25, 1966, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the third son of the late Henry P. and Betty J. (nee Krebs) Nickley of Goshen, Ohio.

Robbie was a man with a big heart who was always willing to help others. He was a very sweet person who simply could not say no to anyone. He often opened his apartment to friends and relatives who needed a place to stay, and most people who met him immediately liked him. He will be lovingly missed by his family and many friends.

Robbie was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 16 years, Ann-Beth (nee McMullen) Nickley, who passed away in December 2022. Rob and Ann met and married in 2006 and remained constantly together until her passing.

He is survived by his brothers, Tom (Carolyn) Nickley and Jack (Rhonda) Goines; and his sisters, Brenda (David) Brown, Bobbie Acuff, and Jerri Shell. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as his good friend Dave, who will miss him dearly.

In addition to his parents and wife, Robbie was preceded in death by his stepmother, Loretta (nee Goines) Nickley; brother, Ronald Gene Nickley; sister, Sue Johnson; and brothers-in-law Larry Acuff, Steve Shell, and Boyd Johnson.

Robbie enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved pickup trucks, western movies, country music, and all the old shows on ME TV. When he was younger, before getting his driver's license, he rode his bicycle everywhere—EVERYWHERE! One time, he even rode his bicycle from Wilmington to Goshen and back simply for fun.

He and his brother talked on the phone a couple of times a week, usually discussing where Rob wanted to go eat next. Robbie also loved teasing his sister-in-law about everything. The two would go back and forth teasing each other and laughing together.

Robbie worked for Walmart for many years. In 2021, he contracted a severe case of COVID that scarred his lungs. From that time forward, his lung and breathing issues steadily worsened.

Robbie leaves behind a lifetime of memories and countless people who loved him. His kindness, generous spirit, sense of humor, and willingness to help others will not be forgotten. He will be surely missed.

A memorial service will be held for Robbie on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 1668 St. Rt. 28, Goshen, OH, beginning at 1pm. Inurnment will take place at the convenience of the family.
