Robert Michael McConkey, age 65, Morrow, Ohio, died April 6, 2016. Mr. McConkey is survived by his wife of 45 years, Eileen, and his four children, Jennifer Glass, Megan Stulce, Joseph McConkey, and Patricia Abbott. He also leaves behind his brother Richard McConkey and sister Susan Jones, six grandchildren, and 3 dogs.
Bob served in the U.S. Air Force and utilized those early experiences in the variety of senior level positions he held in major corporations both internationally and domestically. His position while in the UK combined his love for business entrepreneurship, teaching, training and cross-cultural development. His passion for psychology, coupled with a PhD in the field, made him a sought after global speaker and an industry expert in leadership development and training.
As with many things in life, Bob made connections from personal to professional experiences. He shared his initial participation in personal growth seminar (Life Success) with his family and friends, eventually leading some of the seminars for more than 10 years.
Throughout his life, he excelled in athletics, playing various sports like golf, soccer, tennis and bowling. He ran competitively for many years placing second in Pike's Peak Marathon in Colorado. His love for golf included winning the Club Championship at Bellwood Country Club in Ohio.
But mostly, Bob enjoyed spending time with his family. Hours were spent outside by the pond, the fire, playing outdoor games, and watching the sunset with his wife. Laughing, joking, conversations about life were some of Bob's favorite and most cherished moments. Deep down, Bob was a true romantic spurred by his deep love for Eileen. Their special moments went beyond traditional holidays, often creating their own intimate connections and traditions over four and a half decades.
Bob will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues and all who knew him.
