Robert C. Bonekemper loved facing new challenges and helping people solve problems. The long time Loveland resident died in his sleep from congestive heart failure on November 5 while in Hospice of Cincinnati. He was 85. Robert was born in 1916 in Vancouver, Washington to Wilhelm and Grace Bonekemper.His father died when Robert was three, and his mother remarried and settled in Omaha, Nebraska where he graduated from Omaha Central High School. After graduating from Northwestern University with a bachelor"s degree in Civil Engineering, Robert accepted a management training position with Procetr and Gamble. With the onset of WWII, he was transfered to the newly converted P&G munitions plant in Milan, Tn. where he met his wife of 48 years, Mary Virginia Whayne of Fulton Kentucky, who passed away in 1992. Robert rose to the rank of Lt. Commander in the Navy while assigned to the battleship U.S.S. Massachusetts that had tours of duty in the North Atlantic, the Mediterranean, and Pacific. In 1955 Robert accepted a pasition with the Kroger Co. , and bought the Jubilee Farm near Loveland. He was soon named V.P. of Manufacturing for Kroger where he pionered the manufacturing of many private label brands including ice cream, peanut butter, coffee, and candy. Later in his career, Robert ranhis own Management-consulting firm and also served as administrator for the law firm Paxton and Seasongood. Robert and his wife Mary Virginia greatly enjoyed the country life on the farm and raised registered Black Angus cattle, horses and ponies. He also served on the Clermont County Zoning Commission, was actively involved with the Loveland United Methodist Church, as well as the Loveland Kiwanis Club. Robert is survived by his wife of 4 years, Rose Redwine Bonekemper;his daughter Julie Egan of Lamden; his son William who resides in Indian Hill; and his seven wonderful grandchildren; Lauren and Katherine Egan; Curtis, Lisa, Collin, Weston, and Lana Bonekemper There will be a visitation on Thursday November 8 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Tufts Schioldmeyer Family Funeral Home, 129 Riverside Dr. in Loveland. There will also be a service for friends and family on Friday November 9 satrting at 10:30 A.M. at Mason Christian Village Chapel, 411 Western Row Road in Mason.
