IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard L.
Pieper
December 18, 1956 – October 26, 2023
Richard L. Pieper passed away on October 26, 2023.
Born December 18, 1956, in Cincinnati to Walt and Maureen Pieper, Rich passed the largest part of his youth in Kalamazoo and Portage, Michigan alongside his 4 siblings. He graduated from Portage Northern High School in 1975.
His college days at Michigan State University brought two notable events: meeting his future wife, Laura, and the Spartans' first NCAA National Championship title in Men's Basketball the year he graduated, 1979.
The 1980s brought 3 children, two moves, and one giant home renovation project for Rich. By 1990, however, the Pieper family was settled in Mason, Ohio, where Rich was a faithful attendee and active member at King of Kings Lutheran Church, as well as a sometimes-coach of various youth sports.
He took on his most cherished role in 2009, that of "Papa" to his five grandchildren. Anyone who met Rich soon learned that he loved to cook, especially for others, and his grandchildren were no exception. A man of faith, Rich lived with the certainty of life beyond the grave for those who hope in Christ.
Rich is survived by numerous family: his wife, Laura (Kruse); children Katherine, Elizabeth Waldron (Daniel), and Phillip (Kerri); grandchildren Victoria, Natalie, and Rebecca Waldron and Ries and Jacob Pieper; siblings Maureen Fitzgerald (Mark), Carol Troutman (Mark), James (Julie) Pieper, and Marcia Rohr (John). He will also be missed by many extended family and friends.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, November 1 from 3-5 PM and 6-7:30 PM and Thursday, November 2 from 10-11 AM at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 3621 Socialville Foster Rd., Mason, OH 45040, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 AM. Private inurnment Rose Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the King of Kings Church Memorial Fund. When donating online , under "Other," choose "Memorials" in the drop-down menu.
