Richard “Rick” Merkle of Morrow, Ohio, passed away on July 5, 2026 at the age of 79. Beloved husband of 60 years to Mary Merkle. Devoted father of Carrie (Dan Correll) Merkle-Cox, Nicholas (Nick) Merkle, and Matthew (Matt) Merkle. Dear father-in-law of Caroline Merkle. Cherished grandfather of Keith (Dakota Theders) Merkle, Jacob Merkle, and great grandchildren, Molly and David. Beloved brother of Phyllis (Mark) Kleinholz and the late Jeanne (George - living) Bauer, Tom (Rita - living) Merkle, Bill Merkle, Steve Merkle, and Ed Merkle. Proud uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. Son of the late Vern and Edna Merkle.

Rick proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He was a proud firefighter for the City of Cincinnati, retired after 27 years of dedicated service. He was a butcher for many years.

Rick loved updating the house, building a gazebo for Mary. He had a major passion for all classic cars. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and jokester personality.
