Philip Dean Reed, 86, of Clarksville, Ohio, passed away on March 19, 2023 at home, surrounded by family.

Born on February 12, 1937, at the home where he resided in Clarksville, Ohio, son of Parker and Clara (Bandy) Reed.

Philip worked at the paper mill in Lockland, Ohio until he was drafted into the US Army. He served one tour in Vietnam, Germany, Alaska, and multiple locations in the continental United States. Philip spent 20+ years and retired in 1981. Upon his retirement from the Army, he moved his family back to Clarksville where he worked for the US Post Office as a rural carrier and retired from there as well; all while working and maintaining the family farm.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, tending to livestock, and spending time with family.

Philip was the beloved husband of 66 years to Judith Jane Reed; proud father of Todd and wife, Paula Reed and Theresa and husband, John Chmidling; loving grandfather of Nicholas and wife, Nichole Chmidling, Tabitha Chmidling, Alexander and wife, Alyssa Chmidling, Jessica Reed and Mariah Reed; great-grandfather of Elaina Knauff, Logan Chmidling, Addison Reed, Gabe Chmidling, and James Chmidling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Reed.

The funeral service will be held at 1pm on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home-Blanchester with Pastor Tim Bradshaw officiating, where friends will be received from 11am until the time of service.

Interment will take place at Clarksville Cemetery, Clarksville, Ohio.
