Obituary

Peter Pierce-Jones of Milford, OH, formerly of Anderson TWP, OH. Born on September 2, 1929 in Calcutta, India. Passed on to see his Lord on September 3, 2017 at the age of 88. Beloved husband of 32 years to Beverly Jean (nee Laywell/Skiver) Pierce-Jones. Loving step-father of Rhonda (Jim) Armstrong of Bainbridge, OH, Jackie (John) Knisley of Bainbridge, OH and the late Lori Gilliland. Step father-in-law of Ray Gilliland. Caring grandfather of Nathan (Amanda) Powell of Cincinnati, OH, Heather (Jeremy) Sikora of Vandalia, OH, Matthew (Stefanie) Knisley of Chillicothe, OH, Tytus (Jessica) Gilliland of Hillsboro, OH, Heidi (Nathan) Sharp of Lancaster, OH and Hayley (Richard) Ash of Circleville, OH. Proud great-grandfather of Annie, Millie, Owen and Jude Sikora, Ellie and Ayla Knisley, Raegan and Abram Gilliland, Emmie, Evie, Grady and Charlie Sharp, Sophie, Laynie and Quincie Ash. Dear brother of the late Peggy Turnbull. Cherished son of the late John Thomas and Helen Florence (nee Jarrett) Pierce-Jones. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Peter attended Kingsley High School is Surry, England and Mt. Herman High School in Darjeeling, India. Peter graduated in 1948 from Sherwood College in NaniTal, India. He was the Senior Perfect & Captain at Sherwood College where he earned his colours in Hockey, Rugby, Cricket, Boxing and Tennis. Peter was in the Royal Army while in school at Sherwood College. While in India during their Independence, the family was is siege for 56 days and the family was threatened to be killed by the Indian people. Mahatma Gandhi stepped in to save them. Peter worked one year in the lab at Portland Cement Works in Japla, India. He then traveled to England by freighter in 1949 and worked for five years training at Ruston & Hornsby Diesel Manufacturing in Lincoln, England. In June of 1954, Peter immigrated to Cincinnati, OH and worked for Finn Equipment Company. Peter became a US Citizen in August 1965. He then worked 35 years at Teledyne Precision Cincinnati. Peter has been retired 25 years and enjoyed every day to it's fullest. He was an avid golfer and he loved woodworking. He wanted people to remember that "Every moment is precious" and that family and friends are the most important things in life. This is to my wife, Jean, "I'll be waiting on the far side banks of Jordan. I'll be waiting drawing pictures in the sand. And when I see you coming I will rise up with a shout. And come running through the shallow waters reaching for your hand." A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Peter Pierce-Jones to Trinity United Methodist Church, 5767 Wolfpen-Pleasant Hill Rd., Milford, OH 45150.
