Obituary

Peter Donnellan of Landen. Beloved husband of 48 years of Mary Jane (nee Meyers) Donnellan. Devoted father of Ted (Caryn) Donnellan, Katie (Jared) Donnellan Smith, and Maggie (Brian) Caha. Cherished grandfather of Maura Donnellan, Aiden Donnellan, Arlo Smith, and Leo Smith. Loving brother of Dina (Charlie) O'Hara, Marguerite Keenan, Sue Donnellan, and the late Dennis Donnellan. Caring brother-in-law of Betty Donnellan and Dan Meyers. Passed away December 8, 2025, at the age of 75 at Hospice of Cincinnati. Peter was born July 27, 1950, in Dayton, Ohio to parents John and Marguerite Donnellan. Peter attended Carroll High School and later graduated from Wright State University. Peter loved playing sports throughout his life. He was a long-time member of the Cincinnati Wolfhounds Rugby club, where he enjoyed good times both on and off the field. Peter was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Bengals, and FC Cincinnati. Peter was an active father who coached his children's soccer teams and was a longtime referee for Kings SAY soccer. For many years, Peter enjoyed being the Sunday bartender at Paxton's in Loveland. Peter was a 40 year resident of the Landen community and a board member of the Pine Ridge Rec. Association. A tragic skiing accident in 2016 rendered Peter a quadriplegic. Through hard work and dedication, and the never-ending support and dedication of his wife Mary Jane, Peter eventually regained the ability to walk. A truly remarkable feat. Peter adored his four grandchildren, who loved going for rides on Papa's motorized wheelchair, with frequent requests for a special stop at the M&M bowl during their ride. One of Peter's greatest joys in his later years was tending to the many trees he planted on the hill behind his home. Dubbed "Papa's Woods" by his grandchildren, the trees on the hill are a constant reminder to all who pass by of Pete's perseverance and spirit. His family would also like to thank his many caregivers over the years, in particular his physical therapist J.P. Pizana, Dr. Mettu and the staff at OHC, and the kind caregivers at Hospice of Cincinnati.
