Paul R. "Sonnie" Whitaker of Hazard, KY, formerly of Somerset, KY and Blanchester, OH. Passed away at the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center in Hazard, KY on October 15, 2020 at the age of 88. Born on May 1, 1932 in Somerset, KY. Beloved husband of the late Jessie Dee (nee Barrett) Whitaker. Loving father of Nancy (Thomas) Long and Michael A. Whitaker. Dear brother of Deborah K. Craft, Larry Wayne Whitaker, E. Jeff Whitaker and the late Hollis, Virgil, C. David, James and Ron Whitaker, Delores Steif and D. Jean Rogers. Cherished son of the late Jesse and Edith Whitaker. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and many dear friends. Sonnie proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. A private graveside service will be held at Blanchester I.O.O.F Cemetery.
