Son of the late William J. and Matilda (nee Bryant) Bechmann. Husband of the late Patricia Bechmann (Woodson) and Agnes Bechmann (nee Fleak). Beloved father of Anita Bechmann, Timothy Bechmann (Kathy), Dorothy Seng (Steve), Barbara Brown (Dick), Fred Fleak (Betty), William Applegate (Wanda), Ruth Ann Wilson (Larry), Charles Applegate (Anna Jo), and the late Donald Applegate. Dear brother of Diane Campbell (John), Marilyn Moses (Clarence), and the late William Bechmann Jr. (Marsha), and Ronald Bechmann (Annette). Devoted grandfather of 22 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
