IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patia Lou
Williams
May 1, 1953 – November 20, 2025
Memorial Service
Cincinnati Friends Meeting
Starts at 1:00 pm
Patia Lou Williams of Mason, Ohio passed away November 20, 2025 at the age of 72. Beloved daughter of the late Dr. John Howard and Rosemary Evelyn (nee Hamilton) Williams. Cherished sister of Monty (Ginger) Williams and Cherie (the late Dr. Bruce L. Hammond) Williams. Loving wife to the late Philip J. Hom. Caring Aunt of Kelson Williams, James Sootheran, and Colette Williams.
Patia was born in LaGrange, Indiana on May 1, 1953, and grew up nearby in Shipshewana, Indiana. She had a difficult start because she was deprived of adequate oxygen during her birth. This led to delayed development and learning disabilities. School was always a challenge for her, but she made friends easily and didn't let her disabilities hold her back from achieving her dreams and goals. She had a cheerful disposition, smiled, and laughed a lot. Everyone appreciated her positivity and perseverance through the many trials she faced throughout her life.
As a child she loved to dance and took ballet lessons for many years. She also enjoyed singing, and her family would often sing together, especially on trips in the car. She loved animals and had several dogs and horses in her lifetime. Her last dog, Stormy, was her constant companion these past 12 years and preceded her in death by just a few days.
Throughout her life, Patia displayed a gift for working with young children. She earned two degrees beyond High School, one from Owens-Community College and one from Union Institute, both in Early Childhood Education. As part of her training she wrote and illustrated 2 short books, one was called "Stacy's Book of Manners" which she shared with her niece, nephews, and the children she taught.
Children instantly trusted her and were drawn to her warmth and loving care. She was proud of her career as a teacher. She even taught her niece, Colette, how to read and write before she went to school! Patia knew how to help children develop their creative abilities through different types of crafts and activities.
Patia grew up in a Quaker family, and religion was always an integral part of her life. She lived most of her adult life in Loveland, and during that time, she attended Cincinnati Friends Meeting. For many years, she was devoted to teaching the youngest children there, creating unique lesson plans and teaching them about Jesus. She had a strong faith and was passionate about sharing her beliefs with others. She could often be heard saying, "God told me…" when relating some of her life stories.
Patia was close to her Grandma Rose who lived on a farm in Centerville, Indiana. Her grandmother was very good at growing vegetables, and Patia learned from her over time. Over the years, she grew lots of vegetables and flowers in her own back yard, including tomatoes, peppers, peas, beans and strawberries. She was proud of her talent and liked sharing it with others.
The family would like to extend their appreciation for the love and care Patia received, through the years, from the Friends at her Cincinnati Meeting House. Patia made a mark in this world. Her Light touched many. She will be missed.
A Memorial Service will be held on May 3, 2026 at Cincinnati Friends Meeting, 8075 Keller Road, Cincinnati, OH 45243. The service will begin on that Sunday at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cincinnati Friends Meeting in Patia's memory.
