Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Police Canine Kaos, a beloved member of the Union Township Police Department, who entered eternal rest on November 26, 2024, at the age of nine.

Kaos, a distinguished German Shepherd, was born on April 1, 2015, in the Czech Republic before embarking on his noble journey to America. After completing his training at Excel K-9 Services Incorporated located in Cleveland, Ohio in 2016, Kaos returned to Union Township to serve alongside his dedicated partner and handler, Officer Dave Perkins.

During his remarkable career as a dual-purpose narcotic and patrol dog, Kaos exhibited extraordinary skills and unwavering dedication. He played a crucial role in locating fleeing suspects, individuals in medical distress, and missing children. His keen sense of smell and incredible ability to detect a variety of contraband, including drugs, firearms, and other illicit items, significantly aided countless investigations and led to the successful prosecution of many offenders.

Despite his fierce and driven demeanor while on duty, Kaos possessed an affectionate side that endeared him to officers and community members alike. He thrived on the love and attention he received at events like Police Night Out and enjoyed friendly interactions at Boy and Girl Scout meetings. Kaos had a knack for making friends, especially when treats were involved.

In his downtime, Kaos resided comfortably with Officer Perkins in Goshen, Ohio, where he relished playing in the yard, chasing balls, and chewing on his favorite Kong toy. He was adored by his two furry brothers and found joy simply lounging in the garage with Officer Perkins as he worked on his fishing gear.

Kaos was not just a devoted police canine; he was a cherished companion and true friend to Officer Dave Perkins. Their bond was a testament to their love and loyalty—a connection that will forever be remembered.

A celebration of Kaos' life will take place on Wednesday, December 4th, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Union Township Civic Center (4350 Aicholtz Rd, Cincinnati, OH). In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Ohio Police K9 Memorial, which can be accomplished by check or by using the following link:
