IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Norma Jean
Tarter
July 25, 1938 – November 26, 2025
Norma Jean Davis was born July 25, 1938, in Bell County, KY, to Ewing Lee and Eller (née Jackson). In 1955, after graduating high school at age 16, Norma left for Ohio where she obtained employment at an insurance company.
In 1960, she gave birth to her daughter Janice. During that period of time, unwed mothers were frowned upon. She ignored that and with the help of her parents and brother Clyde Ewing, she kept her child.
In 1962, she married Marvin Tarter. She had two more children, Vernon and Sheila.
Norma worked in many different areas. As a car hop at Frisch's, a school bus driver, real estate agent, White Castle, bank teller, and her favorite as a receptionist at Kings Jeep Chrysler Dodge, where she stayed 17 years.
Norma has one grandson Aaron. Joining her family at age 2, Mackenzie quickly became a beloved granddaughter. As adults, Casey and Randy joined the family through Vernon's marriage to Patty.
Survived by her children Janice (George) Kroener, Vernon (Patty) Tarter, Sheila (Mike) Williams; grandchildren: Aaron Tarter, Mackenzie (Kyle) Shouse, Randy (Ashley) Keller, and Casey (Jacque) Keller; great grandchildren: Chase and Tyler Shouse, and seven additional great grandchildren, and her sister-in-law Pauline Davis, and beloved cousin Faye Bryant.
