Mitzi (née McCarty) Shults of Cincinnati, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 31, 2026, at the age of 61.

She was born on August 31, 1964, in Wilmington, Ohio. Mitzi lived a life centered on faith, family, and love. She was the beloved wife of Gerald Lewis Shults Jr., with whom she shared many cherished years and created lots of beautiful memories together that the family will hold onto.

Mitzi was a loving and devoted mother to Richard (Amber) Sanders, Adam (Nora) Shults, Krystle (Damon) Philpot, and Jason (Heather) Shults. She took immense pride in her family and found her greatest joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was a cherished grandmother to Conner (Chyane) Shults, Trinity Shults, Lucas Shults, Blake Shults, Ethan Shults, Maddie Shults, Kainen Shults, Noah Shults, Apollo Shults, Elizabeth Sanders, Emmalynn Sanders, Jackson Sanders, Ashlynn Young, and Haydon Cyrus. Mitzi was also the proud great-grandmother of Charly Shults and Shelbi Shults, who brought her tremendous happiness and joy. She nurtured many others that thought of her as her “second mama.”

Mitzi was the cherished daughter of the late Walden and Dorothy (nee Blevins) McCarty. She was a dear sister of Jean Tedrick and was preceded in death by her siblings, Edwin McCarty, Lillian Hileman, Frank McCarty and Marsha Faries.

In addition to her immediate family, Mitzi leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends whose lives were touched by her kindness, compassion, and unwavering love.

Mitzi was a graduate from the class of 1982 at Blanchester High School.

Mitzi was a dedicated employee at St. Vincent de Paul who was like a second family to her. She embodied the St. Vincent de Paul mission and what they represent to help others.

Mitzi will be remembered for her caring heart, her devotion to her family, and the strength of her faith. Her legacy of love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is at peace in the presence of her Savior and reunited with loved ones who went before her.

Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever missed.

Friends will be received from 10 AM to 12 Noon on Thursday, August 6 at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 1668 St. Rt. 28, Goshen, where services will begin at 12 Noon on Thursday.

The Interment will take place at Plainview Cemetery, Wayne Township, OH
