Obituary

Mildred Joyce Campbell Crane, 83, was born on November 22, 1931, High Point, North Carolina. She stepped into heavenly glory on April 13, 2015 from Hospice of Cincinnati in Blue Ash, Ohio. Mildred was the second of five children of James A. and Viola Hoke Campbell of High Point, North Carolina. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Rev. Billy D. Crane, two sons, David D. Crane (Deanne) of Hamilton, Ohio and Billy R. Crane (Cheryl) of Jacksonville, North Carolina, two grand children, Sarah Elizabeth Crane of Nashville, Tennessee and Andrew Crane of Hamilton, Ohio. She is also survived by her siblings, June Campbell Holmes (McCray), Rev. Lloyd Campbell (Virgie), Rev. Ray Campbell (Reva), Betty-Jo Campbell Luther (Robert), and numerous nieces and nephews. Mildred was a graduate of Trevecca Nazarene College (now University), and of Peabody Teacher's College (now Peabody College of Education and Human Development at Vanderbilt University). While a student at Trevecca, Mildred served as secretary to the College President, Dr. A. B. Mackey. Mildred taught school in Kansas City while her husband Billy attended Nazarene Theological Seminary. They served as partners in ministry as Billy pastored churches in Tennessee and West Virginia for 31 years, and traveled in evangelistic work for 22 years. For six years, Mildred served as schoolteacher to her sons during the years they traveled full-time before the boys left "home" for school. Mildred was an accomplished church pianist, organist and music teacher and was still playing each week for church services until last Thanksgiving. Mildred's loving and Christ-like spirit endeared her to all who knew her! She has truly left a godly heritage to all who knew her.
