Obituary

Mike Booze never encountered something broken that he couldn't fix, this included anything from Frankensteined lawn mowers to heating and cooling systems to jet engines. While doing this, he mastered everything from sewing to welding. He was both a military airman and an avid civilian sailor.

He married his Milford high school sweetheart and love of his life Patrice Collins in 1972. He was 19 and she was 20 years old. Through their 46 years of marriage, they never lost their deep love for each other. They were there for each other thick and thin, rain and shine, wind or no wind.

His first son Erik arrived a few weeks before their first wedding anniversary in 1973 and by November of that year he was leaving for Thailand to serve in the US Air Force. In 1976 his second son Colin arrived.

Mike and family moved back to the Cincinnati area in 1978 where he began his civilian career with General Electric starting as a jet engine technician, then instructor and a tooling specialist.

During this time, back at home, he was an avid supporter of Patrice's volunteer efforts and participated in many of Erik and Colin's activities. From Erik's Cub Scout "Pine Box Derby" competitions to coaching Colin's soccer teams, he always went all in.

After GE he got a job with H.P. Thompson turning his mechanical prowess towards heating, ventilation and cooling systems.

About this time he and Patrice caught the sailing bug, and bad. They owned a number of boats over the years and Mike met some of his very best friends in fellow sailors. He and Patrice were very involved in Rocky Fork Sailing Club where he served as Commodore.

Mike loved sailing, nature, animals, music, reading and was very passionate about human rights and social justice. He was a dedicated husband and loving father. His last year was one filled with friends, family and activity.
