July 25, 1941 – June 6, 2025
Merle A. Newberry of Cincinnati, OH., went home to be with the Lord on June 6, 2025, at the age of 83. Merle was born on July 25, 1941, in Somerset, KY to George and Pauline Newberry.
Merle proudly served in the United States Army. He was one of eleven children including an identical twin, Marlon. Merle worked for 32 years at General Motors. He enjoyed his family vacations, especially Sunset Beach, NC. His passion was his time with his grandkids.
Merle is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Janice A. (nee Allen) Newberry, two sons, Marshall Newberry and Matt (Shawna) Newberry, daughter, Shannon Carter, four grandchildren, Jessica Carter, Jamie (Luke) Hennigan, Allison Newberry and Dylan Newberry, three brothers, Charles (Norma) Newberry, Dewey (late Joyce) Newberry, Marlon (Freda) Newberry, four sisters, Maxine (late Jim) Fischer, Patricia (Mike) Radwick, Virginia (Steve) Middlesworth and Nancy Thomas, sister-in-law of Juanita Newberry and Anita Walters, also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and many dear friends.
Merle is preceded in death by his parents, George Elmer and Pauline Wilson (nee VanHook) Newberry, grandson, Richard Andrew Carter, three brothers, Lowell (Bonnie) Newberry, Kenneth Newberry and Ron Newberry.
Friends will be received from 11 AM to 12 Noon on Thursday, June 12 at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 1668 St. Rt. 28, Goshen, where services will begin at 12 Noon on Thursday. Rev. Doug Newberry officiating.
The interment with military honors will take place at Myers Cemetery, Goshen TWP, OH.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Merle Newberry to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105 or to the charity of one's choice.
