Mattie Jane "Martha" Smith. Died peacefully on Monday, August 1st at the age of 90. She was married for 54 years to the love of her life, the late Paul D. Smith and briefly to the late Harold Hayes. She was a longtime resident of Loveland, Ohio and most recently a resident of Otterbein in Lebanon. She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Joyce Smith Lucke (Ron), Peggy Lynn Smith Barsan (Nick), her grandchildren Paula Wold (Tony), John Lucke (Lisa), Fred Hargis III, Deanna Kersey, Paul T. Smith, Wendy Francisco (Michael), Karen Pirk (Scott), Jason Smith, Emily Nevius (Steve) and Erin Barsan, 17 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Lucille Dickens (Kenny), brother, Sam Jones (Nancy) and many nieces and nephews. Along with her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents Wilmer and Grace Jones, her children, Paul E. Smith, Ednamae Hargis and Carl D. Smith, and her grandchildren Christine L. Luke and Edward R. Lucke. A special thank you to the caring staff of Asbury Hall at Otterbein Lebanon who treated her like family. We are forever grateful. She was a very special woman, who will be remembered for the love, kindness and gratitude she shared with everyone. Family and friends will be received from 6-8 PM on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home, 129 N Riverside Ave, Loveland, OH 45140, where services will be held on Friday at 10 AM. Interment Union Cemetery, Symmes Township. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
