Obituary

Our hearts are broken as we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved Matthew Scott Mitchell of Milford on March 3, 2022. He went to be with the Lord at the young age of 44. Matt was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 28, 1977. He is the beloved husband of Jessica Kremp Mitchell. Loving father of Abigail and Eleanor. Cherished son of Steve and Sue Mitchell. Adored brother of Laura and Shawn Mason (Emily and Josh) and Jennifer and Jeff Hayes (Candace, Mitchell, and Wesley). Dear son-in-law of Pam and the late Don Kremp. Caring brother-in-law of Rebecca and Greg Hammond (Lacey and Ashley). Grandson-in-law of Will Ante. Matt was the youngest of three siblings and after two girls, he was a welcomed addition to the family. He grew up in West Chester, Ohio where he lived for more than 20 years and made lifelong friends. He graduated from Lakota High School in 1995. Growing up, Matt loved nature and doing anything outside, especially if it involved water. From a young age, he loved his family's boating activities and learned to waterski, wakeboard, wake surf, and even barefoot ski. He also developed a love for swimming and was on the high school swim team. Matt had a passion for cars and over the years has had more than 20 new and used cars. He attended Eastern Michigan University and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Geology and Environmental Science and earned his Professional Geologist License. For the last 14 years he worked for Trihydro, an environmental consulting company and was highly respected by his peers at work. Matt has been married to the love of his life, Jessica, for 17 years. They had two beautiful daughters, Abbey and Ellie. He loved sharing his love for boating, camping, and the lake with his family. His wife and his two daughters meant more than anything to him. He loved being a girl dad, he adored all his girls, and he truly was the luckiest. Anyone who knew Matt could speak to his character. He was honest, caring, faithful, loyal, hard working, and very humble. He was filled with compassion for others and was always willing to help those in need-especially when it came to fixing things. Matt brought joy to everyone around him. He always knew how to make people smile or laugh with his funny quotes, his crazy outfits, and his playful ways. Most importantly Matt had his family at the center of his life. Matt's daughters, along with his nieces and nephews, looked up to him and loved his adventurous spirit and silly antics. He will always be remembered for the way he made them feel when they were with him. They will have stories to tell that will make them smile for a lifetime. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend to us all. Time spent with family and friends was most important to him. Matt has touched all of our lives in such a special way and he is so very loved. He will always be in our hearts and dearly missed forever.
